Hospital Ceram

The Italian surgeon Paolo Casoni, ideologist of a treatment for varicose veins and capillaries, treats patients with blood microcirculation problems once a month in a Marbella hospital, according to the method he discovered seven years ago and has been patented in Europe for two years. Besides Italy, Malaga is the only place in the world where he operates.

Marbella, December 1, 2020 – Specialist in general, cardiovascular and oncology surgery, Dr. Paolo Casoni has registered the patent WO2019234120-Polidocanol as an Immunomodulating Agent to treat varicose veins without producing harmful side effects for the human body. Apart from the Ippocrate clinic, in Parma (Italy), of which he is director, Marbella is the only place in the world where, for the moment, he applies his discovery.

The patent dates from 2018, although Casoni began to experiment in 2013, to try to minimize the consequences, according to the doctor himself, “not serious but very uncomfortable” of supplying Polidocanol in its usual concentration. To do this, it diluted this well-known drug that has existed since 1960 and began to supply it with the same function as then, as a “sclerosing method for varicose veins and capillaries”.

After several tests, Casoni detected “with surprise” that not only did the side effects disappear, going from 10% to 1 per 1000 of affectation, while “the impact on the veins and capillaries were the same”.

Once these first results were seen, “we further diluted the drug,” explains the doctor, “by contacting the Biochemistry department of the University of Urbino to see what effects this new reduction in concentration had on the human body.” Again, adds Casoni, “we were pleasantly surprised by testing 52 cytokines and verifying that the treatment has a very strong immunomodulating and anti-inflammatory effect.” Furthermore, 87% of the treated patients “reported that they had stopped having back pain, their skin hydration had improved and they were in better general health”.

Casoni and his team continued investigating with “personalized cases” of patients with varicose veins, vascular problems, psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis and found that “the treatment had an effect, without completely removing the anomaly, but reducing it to a minimum”.

Currently Polidocanol is diluted “up to 15 times” and causes a “slowdown in the cellular aging of the organism in patients treated for several years, with improvement in the tissues” what Casoni calls “enormously positive side effects”.

Now, Casoni and the Ippocrate team are looking for “a company to be able to expand the European patent to the rest of the world”, although this process “is just beginning and we don’t have anything concrete yet”.
